After my time with the wonderful [B] family, I was once again reminded why I love photography. I have been so blessed to document moments with this family a few times over the last handful of years and each time, it has brought me joy. What I loved most about this particular session, besides my gorgeous subjects of course, was our location. It may not look like anything fancy...after all, despite the warm weather we've had, it's still February and here in Colorado that means barren trees and brown crunchy grass. However, Michelle had thoughtfully chosen this location. It has a place in her heart, she explained to me, because when her children were little she used to walk them to this open space near their home, spread a blanket next to a giant tree, on top of a hill that overlooked the mountains, and read books to them.
Even though they didn't read books to each other this time, I hope I was able to recreate some of the special magic that this place holds for them.
THAT is what photography means to me.
It's not just about capturing a great photo that you can hang above your fireplace, it's much more. When I work with a family, I to create an EXPERIENCE they treasure. I want them to look at the images from their session and SEE WHAT I SEE; their emotions, their joy, real life, their connections, the BEAUTY of *THEIR* STORY.
No books this time, but those pillows sure came in handy!
Thank you, [B] family, for a *very* SWEET session!
